BAAQMD (don’t worry, nobody actually pronounces this): Bay Area Air Quality Management District
BART: Bay Area Rapid Transit
BRT: Bus rapid transportation
CEQA: California Environmental Quality Act
CHSRA: California High-Speed Rail Authority
DOT: Department of Transportation
DTX: Downtown Extension (refers to tunnel that will bring trains to the TBT)
EIS (EIR in California): Environmental Impact Statement (/Report)
HOT lane: High-occupancy toll lane
HOV lane: High-occupancy vehicle lane
HSR: high-speed rail
HST: high-speed train
IT: Information Technology
MTA: Metropolitan Transportation Authority
MTC: Metropolitan Transportation Commission
NIMBY: Not In My Backyard
NEPA: National Environmental Policy Act
ROW: Right-of-way
TB: transbay (note: only used in comments)
TBT: Transbay Terminal
TOD: transit-oriented development
VMT: Vehicle miles tax
